What's Possible For You: Get Unstuck and See Your Possibilities

Life By Design: What’s Possible for You

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

It's chaos everywhere. You can see it all over the news. The pandemic, violent riots and market crashes are making everyone scared. The world is spiraling out of control, experiencing darkness and horrible situations that caught us all off our feet.

What do we do in this time of chaos? Be the light!

No matter how bad the situation is, that does not mean that life should not be celebrated.

There will always be some form of darkness in our lives. But we cannot confront the darkness in the world with more darkness. This will only result in a descending spiral of destruction. Even Martin Luther King used his darkest moments to move forward and continue fighting for our rights.

We must choose to stand on the side of love

God said “love your enemies”
“Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.” - Proverbs 10:12

Remember the co-worker or boss who mistreats you in the company? How about the neighbors who spread rumors about you for no reason? We all have encountered these people at some point in our lives.

The best thing we can do in this situation, is to bless them with God’s love. When you do this, that love will be spread around. Despite all the hate and mistreatment that you received, you should return that hate and mistreatment with love. Because the only thing that can drive out hate, is LOVE.

Are you loving those who are unlovable back to life?

We are God’s masterpiece here on earth. Let His light shine through you.

You are the light in the darkness. God created us according His image and likeness. Since God is Love. Therefore you are love.

In all the things that you do, do them in a way that you become the light that someone sees and hears from. Be the one to shine light into their world.

What can you do to show light and love in your daily activities?

“Life’s persistent and most urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?’” -Martin Luther King

2020 has been a difficult year for everyone. And many might have even thought “Why is this happening to me?” We are living in a world where a lot of people are hurting and a lot of people are drowned in darkness.

Martin Luther King experienced the darkest moments of his life in prison. But he kept going on. Because he believes that it is through our light that shines out the darkness.

We will always be in a position to help someone, to influence and encourage others. So be the light for them. Make sure you are the person that someone feels the love from.

What small act of kindness did you do today, that added light to someone else’s world?

Three Things to Do to Reframe Your Thoughts

Remember I talked about the unlovable people who mistreat us, early on this blog? We can only drive out that hate when you treat them good, despite them treating you bad.

It is better to be the person that drives out the hate. Be the light among the darkness. How can you do that? By showing simple acts of kindness.

Maybe smiling at your neighbor and saying hello, while they scowl at you. Or sending an inspirational text message to your boss. Even just sincerely checking on another person and asking them if they are okay, especially at this time, sends ripples of love everywhere.

Are you loving in all possible ways?

Find simple ways to let people know you love them

You might be thinking: “Oh I am just a simple person just doing my own thing. How can I help bring love to other people’s lives?”

You may not be on TV, you may not be rich and famous or you may not hold a position. But you can still show love in a dark place. How? By simply being kind and doing little things for others.

  • Check on your elderly on how they are doing
  • Whenever someone crosses your mind, pick up the phone and call them
  • Put a post on Facebook that shines love
  • Send your family and friends words of encouragement
  • Text someone you know now, tell them that you are checking to see if they are okay
  • Give them coffee
  • Drop some flowers or food
  • Check on the people who don’t look like you
  • Reach out to your community
  • Reach out to your house of worship

Who are the 3 people you would like to reach out to this weekend?

Remember one of MLK’s famous words: “Life’s persistent and most urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?’” .
Let us not keep the love inside us. Let us find simple ways to share this love to others. Celebrate life! Because what is celebrated is repeated.
